Paddle Boarding has become a craze on the islands and is the new cool activity that beach goers and ocean lovers all over are practicing. This sport, if you may, consists of standing, kneeling, or even sitting on an enlarged 12ft plus surfboard while using an elongated paddle to make your way around the ocean. Paddle Boarding is the perfect hobby to pick up whether you want to get out of the house and into the ocean or if you want to get some exercise while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Both Kailua and Lanikai Beach are the perfect beaches to try out this fun hobby with their flat, calm waters. This really is a great sport, however, don’t be alarmed when you hear the price of a new board and matching paddle. The equipment needed for this sport can be rather costly, so if you cannot afford to buy one right off the bat don’t worry, you can always rent one from places such as Kailua Sail Boards and Kayaks which is located right next to our office! That being said, I suggest you rent a board for your first few tries and if its something you love then you should go ahead and buy your very own board and paddle from places such as Kimos Surf Hut. Just remember this sport does take some practice and does not come easy to everyone, so don’t be discouraged if you have trouble with it at first. Just keep in mind practice makes perfect and you’ll be a pro in no time!!
